Tips for making your equipment classroom-friendly

• How used: One container per pair of students or per individual for intervention.
• How packaged: To uniquely identify each container of cards, place a coloured sticky dot on the back of each card (eg all 77 cards in one container have a yellow dot). Every different container has cards with a different coloured dot (eg all cards in another container have a green dot on the back of each card). Each set of cards is stored in a clear small, 1 compartment Fischer container (18.5 x 11.5 x 3.2) cm.
• How stored: Class kit of 8 containers of cards stacked on a designated maths shelf/trolley in the classroom.

Making this DIY resource

Contents: 77 cards with 7 different representations of the numbers 0 to 10.

1. For each box of cards you will need 7 different coloured sheets of A4 card, 100 gsm.
2. Photocopy each representation from Anita’s printable ‘Number Representation Cards: 0 to 10‘ onto it’s own sheet of A4 coloured card to allow students to ‘sort all the cards by colour’.  Eg numerals (white cards, p2); dot domino patterns (blue cards, p3); five frames (orange cards, p4); ten frames (purple cards, p5);  words (yellow cards, p6) odd-even arrangement (green cards, p7); random arrangement (red cards, p8).
3. Cut/guillotine each A4 page of 11 cards.
4. Place the same coloured sticky dot on the back of each card in ONE FULL SET of 77 cards and one on the bottom of the container.
5. Place a full set of 77 cards in the container, no laminating required!
