After-school whole staff workshop (2 or 3 hours)
Appropriate phase of learning journey with Anita: ✔ START | MIDDLE | END
Differentiation is an essential tool when teaching K-6 Mathematics. It allows teachers to meet the needs and abilities of all learners in the same classroom. But it can be difficult.
In this course, Anita will share some simple but effective strategies for differentiating number concepts. Teachers will engage in a range of tasks using ‘plastic-sleeve whiteboards’ with Anita’s classroom-ready inserts for number boards and ten frames. While participating in these tasks, she will explain how you can use these visual models for whole-class instruction so that all students can engage with the content regardless of their current level of understanding.
Throughout the workshop, Anita will model how to immerse your students in mathematical language through all parts of a lesson – from the warm-up through to the reflection.
If you choose the 3-hour course, Anita will offer practical advice on how to kick-start a consistent whole-school approach to mathematics. This will involve teams reflecting on current practice and agreeing to what they will implement within the next week.
