Then this hands-on workshop presented by Anita Chin is for you!
In this short course Anita will guide your whole staff through the developmental sequence of learning for Addition and Subtraction K-6. From dice and double-nine dot dominoes to ten frames and the empty number line, Anita will demonstrate the tasks and mathematical talk you can use with these tools for effective whole-class differentiated instruction. Your teachers will come away with practical strategies for differentiation in the classroom that they can use the very next day.
If you choose the 3-hour course, there will be more time for delving deeper into syllabus content and engaging in additional tasks. Anita will also demonstrate how you can use the images in the online syllabus as a basis for asking good open-ended questions and to spark student discussion.
Course Delivery Model
2-hour or 3-hour after-school tailored workshop at your school for your whole staff.
This course most often follows a day of demonstration lessons on the same concept, but it can also be delivered as a ‘stand-alone’ course.

Completing Teaching Addition and Subtraction (2 hours) will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.5.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Completing Teaching Addition and Subtraction (3 hours) will contribute 3 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.5.2, 6.2.2 and 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
