Following the success of Anita’s second special two-day Leading Primary Maths PL event in 2023, it’s back by popular demand! This year, Anita has adapted the two-day program to meet the evolving needs of NSW primary schools who will are implementing the new Y3–6 Mathematics Syllabus (NESA, 2023) whilst refining their knowledge of the K–2 Mathematics Syllabus (NESA, 2021).

That’s right, you and your team (up to 8 people) of current and aspiring leaders get to spend two whole days immersed in ‘Darn Good Teaching’ professional learning with Anita!

Anita will empower and equip you with the practical tools, strategies and knowledge needed to hit the ground running when you return to school!  Your team will leave inspired and ready to lead a consistent approach for school-wide improvement at your primary school in 2025.

Program

DAY 1:  Leading a whole-school approach to maths | Content knowledge

• Planning for and understanding the maths we teach: Delving into Anita’s developmental sequences of learning for number concepts
• Fast-tracking change to make differentiation doable: language, visual models and written recordings
• Translating the new curriculum and understanding the maths we teach.

DAY 2:  Lesson structure | Task design | Scope and sequence writing K–6

• Taking a deep dive into Anita’s 5-Part Lesson Structure.
• Getting the most from your lesson warm-ups… Anita Chin style!
• Anita’s scope and sequence writing Guiding Principles for K–6
• Examining Anita’s exemplar scope and sequence documents for the new NSW Y3–6 maths syllabus.
