Visual Models, Concrete Materials and Language in Maths: Place Value

A strong foundation in place value, including connecting whole numbers to decimals, is essential for our students to be successful in mathematics.
Course Description

This short course is delivered as an after-school customised workshop at your school for your whole staff. It most often follows a day of demonstration lessons on the same concept, but it can also be delivered as a ‘stand-alone’ course. It is suitable for early career teachers, experienced teachers, learning support educators, maths leaders and school leaders.

You can choose either a 2-hour or 3-hour course. If you choose the 3-hour option there will be more time for discussion and delving deeper into syllabus content. In addition, Anita will assist your staff to develop a consistent whole-school approach to implementing hands-on resources.

Completing Visual Models, Concrete Materials and Language in Maths: Place Value (3 hours) will contribute 3 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Curriculum addressing standard descriptors 2.5.2, 6.2.2 and 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
