Want to kick start a strategic whole-school approach to daily number sense that will empower your teachers to make the most of this valuable component of maths lessons?
Then this hands-on workshop presented by Anita Chin is for you!
In this workshop, Anita Chin will outline a strategic approach to the selection of content for daily number sense based on your scope and sequence. Participants will learn about the various roles that daily number sense can fulfil, including reviewing prior learning, connecting concepts, practising mathematical language and reinforcing new learning.
Anita will also facilitate a discussion of the timing of daily number sense within a lesson and throughout a week of maths learning. Participants will experience several hands-on tasks using a range of strategies that meet the needs of all learners, such as whiteboard insert sheets and open-ended questions.
If you choose the 3-hour course, Anita will offer practical advice on how to use daily number sense to address the specific gaps in your students’ learning. This will involve examining the developmental sequence of content in the NSW Mathematics K-6 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum.

Completing Implementing a Whole-School Approach to Daily Number Sense (2 hours) will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.5.2 and 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
Completing Implementing a Whole-School Approach to Daily Number Sense (3 hours) will contribute 3 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.5.2, 6.2.2 and 6.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
