ChinUP professional learning events are two-hour after-school workshops, hosted by primary schools across NSW. ChinUPs are designed for teams of up to 8 educators and are open to anyone, from any sector and any school. Individuals and casual teachers are also very welcome to attend.

Creating units of work for your maths program can seem daunting. There is so much to consider: NESA requirements, your scope and sequence, a unit template, and how to best describe teaching and learning activities to suit your students and school context.
In this after-school short course, Emma Campbell will guide you through NESA’s programming requirements and provide practical advice to implement these requirements.
You will learn:
- how to structure a compliant and easy-to-use maths unit template
- different ways of describing teaching and learning activities in units.
A range of possible templates for units of work will be provided in an e-folder.
What to bring
- a hard copy of the NSW Mathematics K-6 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum
- square post-it notes
- pencil, eraser, highlighter

About Emma Campbell
Emma is a Mathematics Education Consultant at Maths Master Class assisting teachers to develop mathematics content knowledge and pedagogy. As Senior Curriculum Officer Mathematics at NESA, she developed the 2012 NSW Mathematics K–10 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum and support materials. Interested in the K-12 continuum of learning in mathematics and passionate about assisting teachers implement logical and creative mathematics learning pathways, Emma believes language and visual representations are critical in improving learning in mathematics classrooms.
